Everyone’s idea of a fabulous life is different. For some it may be a big house and fast car, for others it may be a more simple existence others may well want to spend more quality time with the family. Maybe you want to have it all. Having it all is of course an option but I have watched people stressing out so much trying to get it all that they end up not really enjoying any of it.
Trying to have everything can leave you with nothing. Instead why not just focus your limited time and energy on just the things that are most important to you. The things that will make the biggest impact on your life and the things that you love the most. Think about what values you would like to live your life by if you’re not sure have a think about the people you respect what is it about them that you admire. What values would you most like to instil in your children. What do you love doing? Writing, entertaining, photography. What do your children enjoy the most? What are your personal goals? What do you want to achieve in the next month or year.
If it’s appropriate (your kids are of a suitable age etc.) get the family together and start a discussion on what it is they would like from the family. If it helps get them to create a family motto this will get them talking about what is important to them from their family. Make sure you write all the answers down as they will be the basic ingredients of creating your personal fab life.
Having a family motto in place or a set of principle by which you would all like to live your lives by, not only bonds the family with a common purpose but also allows you to bring to the forefront what is most important to your family life. When major decisions need to be made go back to your family motto or mission statement and make decisions that are most in line with your family’s values and principles as laid down in your statement.
